Team TM3 Celebrates 250 Years of Service By The U.S. Army

On the eve of the 250th Birthday of the U.S. Army, we honor the courage and patriotism of the brave men and women who served this institution. We thank them for their selfless service.

We’d like to take this opportunity to shine the spotlight on the military careers of three proud Army veterans on Team TM3:

Lafayette Thomas, CEO

Following in his father’s footsteps as a retired Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, Lafayette served nine years in the U.S. Army from 1989 to 1998. During his distinguished military career, he was recognized early on as both Soldier of the Quarter and Soldier of the Year. Lafayette served as a member of the 121st Evacuation Hospital in Yongsan, Korea, from 1989 to 1990 and subsequently contributed as a member of the Color Guard for both Alpha Company and the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, from 1990 to 1995. He deployed with the 67th Combat Support Hospital, based in Wurzburg, Germany, to Hungary and Bosnia in support of Operation Joint Endeavor from December 1995 to November 1996. In recognition of his outstanding service, Lafayette was awarded three Army Commendation Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Armed Forces Service Medal. Notably, he met his wife, Verna Thomas, while stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Daryl Loveless, Project Manager

Served 10 years in the U.S. Army from 1984-94 as a Combat Heavy Engineer. Served in the Persian Gulf War from 1990-1991 with the 864th Engineer Bn. Was voted Soldier/Athlete of the year and nominated for Family of the year. Worked as a government contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Wife, Lisa, served the U.S. Army with the 214th Aviation Bn. Grandfather, Robert, served in WWII with the Military Police, and father, James, served two tours in Vietnam in Field Artillery.

Richard Baker, Senior Cybersecurity Engineer

Enlisted at age 17 as Unit Clerk. Served in Korea, then Turkey during Desert Storm. Won multiple Soldier of the Quarter competitions. Earned Fort McPherson’s Military Funeral Honors, second Army’s Secretary General’s Staff and Post Command Sergeant Major’s Driver, Fort Jackson, SC. Left as Sergeant E-5 after Desert Storm to pursue higher studies. Rejoined the National Guard as a Signal Officer 25A. Participated in the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita relief efforts and earned the Humanitarian Service Medal. Transferred to the Army Reserve as Battalion Chief Information Officer S-6, then Company Commander. Left the Reserve as Captain O-3 in 2020 with 24 years of service. Received the Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, three Army Commendation Medals, three Army Reserve Commendation Medals, and the Humanitarian Service Medal.
